Wildlife Animal Protection in Guatemala
ARCAS is a non-profit Guatemalan Civil Association formed in 1989 by a group of Guatemalan citizens concerned about the rapid disappearance of their natural heritage, especially wildlife. The organization operates three main project sites: Guatemala City, Petén, and the Hawaii area of the southern Pacific coast.
ARCAS runs a Wildlife Rescue Center in Petén, accredited by the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries for meeting the highest standards in humane animal care. Its programs include environmental education, volunteering, veterinary care, community development, and wildlife trafficking enforcement.
