A wildcat sanctuary that provides lifetime care to unreleasable wildcats, feral cats, and special needs cats.
Rustic Acres Wildcat Rescue (RAWR) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit, 100% volunteer-run sanctuary in Rhode Island that rescues and provides lifetime care to unreleasable wildcats—including those orphaned as kittens, surrendered by private owners, or seized by authorities. The sanctuary never buys, breeds, or sells animals, and operates as a true no-contact sanctuary, allowing wild residents to live as close to their natural state as possible.
In addition to wildcats, RAWR cares for domestic cats with disabilities or those who were discarded or deemed unadoptable. As licensed wildlife rehabilitators, they also work with local authorities to rescue, treat, and release injured bobcats. The organization is verified by the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries and relies entirely on donations, receiving no federal or state funding.
