The Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Center is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of sick and injured sea turtles in North Carolina. The center also conducts public education about the plight of sea turtles and offers learning opportunities for students of biology, wildlife conservation, and veterinary medicine from around the world.
Through its Topsail Turtle Project, the center monitors sea turtle nesting activity on Topsail Island during the May–October nesting season, hosts community Turtle Talks, and operates a hotline for reporting nesting, hatching, or stranded sea turtles. The center accepts donations, volunteers, and interns to support its conservation mission.
