Conservation succeeds when communities lead

About Big Life Foundation

Big Life Foundation partners with local communities to protect iconic wildlife species and conserve habitat in the Greater Amboseli Ecosystem of East Africa. Their programs encompass anti-poaching, wildlife crime and anti-trafficking, rhino protection, a tracker dog unit, human-wildlife conflict mitigation, habitat protection, and community support including education and healthcare.

Big Life operates ranger teams, intelligence units, and community engagement initiatives to combat poaching and trafficking of species such as elephants and pangolins. Since 2018, their intelligence unit has been involved in 37 pangolin-related cases, successfully releasing 13 live animals. They also address predator-livestock conflicts and monitor elephant populations in the Amboseli region.
