Chimp Haven is the world's largest chimpanzee sanctuary, situated on 200 forested acres in Louisiana. It is home to nearly 300 chimpanzees formerly used in biomedical research, providing them with fresh healthy meals, expert medical care, daily enrichment, large social groups, and the freedom to live as chimps.
The sanctuary's mission is to give retired research chimpanzees a new beginning where they can experience many of the joys they would have in the wild. Chimp Haven also offers educational programs, tours, and various ways for the public to support the chimps in their care.
