Dedicated to enhancing the welfare and conservation of sloths through conservation initiatives and education.
The Sloth Institute is a conservation organization based in Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica, focused on rescuing, rehabilitating, and rewilding sloths. The organization operates programs including Sloth Rescue, Sloth School, Sloth Speedways (rope bridges reconnecting fragmented rainforest), a Tree Nursery, and the Sloth Trax tracking initiative.
The Sloth Institute also works to end electrocutions of sloths caused by power lines, combat the illegal pet trade, and promote ethical sloth tourism. It engages the public through citizen science programs, internships, educational outreach, and adoption and donation campaigns to support its conservation work.
