Founded by the primatologist Biruté Galdikas, Orangutan Foundation International rescues and rehabilitates orphaned orangutans and returns them to protected forest in Indonesian Borneo. Its care center near Tanjung Puting National Park has raised hundreds of orphans.
The organization also secures and restores rainforest habitat, the single most important factor in the survival of wild orangutans.
