The Wild Animal Sanctuary

The Wild Animal Sanctuary operates three facilities in Colorado encompassing more than 40,000 acres, caring for more than 950 rescued captive-born exotic animals. Two facilities specialize in saving captive exotic species, while a third is dedicated entirely to saving Colorado Mustangs.

The organization rescues animals from exploitative captive situations across America and around the world, rehabilitating them and releasing them into large natural habitats where they can live freely with others of their own kind. It highlights the captive wildlife crisis, noting that more than 20,000 large carnivores live outside the zoo system in America in unnatural conditions.
